  A trip down south
Well its been a long week already. I worked till 10:30 last night and went back in at 6 this morning. Funkbobito worked was stuck at work till 3:30 last night and had to be back at 9 this morning (ah the life of retail and IT). So we were both ready for some down home comfort food. Even before I really learned how to cook, I learned how to make Biscuits and Gravy. My Mississippi born grandma taught my mom and she taught me. And if I do say so myself, I make a pretty respectable batch. I didn't feel like having to clean my grandma's old cast iron skillet so made it in the nonstick which is never quite as good. Oh well, it still hit the spot. Well since I am back in at 6 tomorrow I am heading to bed.

Comments:
Those hours suck! Sorry to hear it. Your biscuits and gravy look good. What's in the gravy?

Those are really icky hours. Boo! Time to win the powerball! :)

I've never had biscuits and gravy. I feel deprived...

Sara- The gravy has sausage (I like the spicy kind) and is just a plain white gravy. I season it up with some white pepper, seasoned salt, black pepper and what ever other seasoning sounds good to me at the time.

Jeff- You have been deprived. It isn't at all a healthy meal, but oh so good. You need to find a good southerner to whip up a batch for you. :D

Yum! I love biscuits and gravy--and the sausage makes it all the better!

Jeff, I agree--you HAVE been deprived!

Yum! I grew up in the south, as did hubby, so we're well-versed in the yumminess of said breakfast (which we usually have for dinner). I have perfected a vegetarian version with uses crumbled-up Morningstar Farms sausage patties...
